The Cromwell is currently under construction across the street from Caesars Palace and Bally’s. They’ve announced that it will be opening for business some time this spring. We should get a more specific date when hotel rooms become available for Total Rewards members on February 21. Rooms will be open to all on February 24. The Total Rewards Blog has renderings of The Cromwell that should give you an idea of what the hotel will look like.
A few days later Phase two of The Linq will open on the Vegas Strip. Phase two of The Linq will include Yardhouse and a few more retail outlets. The big observation wheel, High Roller, will have its soft opening another few days later. The soft opening of the ride will be March 1. Vegas Chatter has specific dates and times.
The next new hotel opening in Las Vegas will be where the Sahara once stood. SLS Las Vegas has set an opening weekend for Labor Day weekend. There will probably be some special events happening that weekend but no more details have been revealed.
The Super Bowl last Sunday may have been a yawner for casual fans but more money as wagered on the game in Nevada than ever before. $119 million was bet on the Big Game and with that casinos won more money than ever before. An Olivia Newton-John residency at Flamingo has been rumored for months but now it’s official. The “Summer Nights” residency will take place at the Donny and Marie theater and take place just a few days a month. Tickets are on sale now and you can find more details at the Total Rewards Blog.
It’s been four years since Mama Mia! was a part of Las Vegas shows but it will return soon. Mama Mia! will begin its new run at the newly remodeled Tropicana Theater this May. You can catch the show Sunday through Thursday’s at 7:30. There will be two performances on Saturday. Tickets are available now.

Boxing fans may want to get ready for two big fights coming to Las Vegas. On April 12, Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley Jr. will face off in a rematch of a controversial fight a couple years ago. A few weeks later, on Saturday, May 3, Floyd Mayweather will take on Amir Kahn. Both fights will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Rumor is that if both fighters win they’ll face each other in December.
Last but not least X-Train has revamped plans for a party train from California to Las Vegas. Instead of having a dedicated train to and from Las Vegas. Now X-Train will charter a couple of cars will will be tagged on to existing train travels from southern California. The concept sounds like fun for parties.
