I just returned from a crazy trip to Austin, Texas for what people in the interactive, music, and film industry should rename adult spring break. This South by Southwest conference has become so huge that there is not a lot of work getting done but a lot of network “partying” being accomplished instead. My liver told me it only felt this way in one other city – LAS VEGAS. The after-effect of the conference feels a lot like a few days in Sin City! So, it is only fitting that SXSW bring the conference to the west and take residency in Las Vegas.
SXSW V2 is the newest addition to the ever-growing SXSW family. This conference is going to be held at the Cosmopolitan Hotel from August 11-August 14, 2013. The conference is a condensed version of its counterpart in Austin, which lasts a full 10 days! But, if you are like most people, 2 days and nights in Las Vegas can feel like 2 weeks in another city (in a great way).
This event is attractive to all types of people extending past the interactive, film, and music business. SXSW V2V is calling on a variety of entrepreneurs, doers, seers, and creative thinkers who will prosper from the SXSW V2V. Las Vegas is a fantastic place for a convention and I have had a lot of success from attending conferences there. I am sure that this will be no different. Check out the http://sxswv2v.com/ for more information and to sign up for this groundbreaking new meeting of the minds. They are offering a deal now and looking for suggestions for session, speakers, and mentors ideas. Do you have questions you would like answered? Check it out!
The Cosmopolitan is the perfect choice of hotels for SXSW as the event takes over the entire city of Austin. The Cosmopolitan is located right next to the city center and it will take an entire city to house SXSW V2V. STK Steakhouse is located in the Cosmopolitan and it is always a safe bet. My favorite chill bar is also at the Cosmopolitan and is one of the most beautiful in Las Vegas. The Chandelier Bar has (you guessed it) chandeliers. Great photo op!
Las Vegas is also the home of the New Media Expo (formerly Blogger’s world). I attended NMX this year and it is a must for anyone interested in social media or blogging. One of the highlights of my NMX Conference was the president of UFC, Dana White. He had great insight for entrepreneurs and advice on how to use social media to benefit your business. Twitter is his favorite social media channel because he says that you can never be misquoted there – and he is right.
Who knew that Las Vegas could offer something for computer and social media geeks from around the world with a huge helping of sin on the side? I do and I will be there!
I have so many crazy stories to share about being young, single and working (unknowingly) as a flytrap for ALL the questionable people in the world. I am a single girl living in Beverly Hills but spend at least 39.5% of my time in Las Vegas. I have been told that I need to write a book so I started my blog melanysguydlines.com. From Northern California originally, but moved to LA to work for William Morris, Irving Azoff, MTV, CAA and all the other big dogs in the music business (behind the scenes because I break car windows and make dogs bark when I try and sing). This was fantastic until I realized I was approaching 30 and still wanted to be a groupie in a rock band. So, that brings me to the present where I started writing the blog and sharing my experiences with others who enjoy laughing at themselves, the harsh world, and of course, my stories.
