One of the signs that Las Vegas is returning to the city it was in 2019 is the return of large gatherings. Las Vegas is traditionally home to many conferences, conventions, and a variety of events. While a car auction isn’t huge like the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the Barrett-Jackson auction is a mainstay for auto enthusiasts from around the country. After skipping a year at Mandalay Bay, Barrett-Jackson is returning to Las Vegas. This year, the auction is on the move just off the Vegas Strip.
The annual Forbes Travel Guide gives props to a total of 44 businesses in Las Vegas. As usual, the vast majority of the hotels, restaurants, and spas receiving recommendations and stars are located on the Vegas Strip.
Mohegan Sun Casino at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas is open for business! The 60,000-square-foot casino and hotel are mostly open to the public. The newest casino in Las Vegas was built using the foundation of the former Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. The pool and entertainment venue formerly known as The Joint will open soon. The sportsbook is open for watching games but won’t be taking wagers until early summer.
Harrah’s is the first casino in Las Vegas (and the entire state of Nevada) to install Roll To Win Craps from Aruze. This is the ninth Caesars casino in the US to install Roll To Win craps. This hybrid craps table game allows players to shoot live dice across a large LED playing field and place all their bets electronically.
Las Vegas continues to open up after dealing with the coronavirus pandemic for a year. Capacity in casinos is now up to 50%. Restaurants and bars can now seat up to 50% of the listed capacity. While there’s a limit to how many people can attend large gatherings, venues may submit plans to offer seats for up to 50% capacity. More shows are opening and the Vegas Golden Knights are allowing fans to attend games. Even dayclubs and nightclubs are opening for warmer days and more fun nights. Most importantly, more casinos are reopening operations all day, every day.
The seasons are changing and so is the Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens display. The new arrangement is called “Springtime Celebrations Around the World.” While the Lunar New Year display focused on Asian culture, these floral creations represent springtime celebrations in The Netherlands, England, Thailand, and the United States.
Luxury casinos in Las Vegas usually renovate their hotel rooms every six or seven years. MGM Resorts recently announced that it will renovate the majority of the hotel rooms at Bellagio. The timing lines up perfectly as Bellagio rooms were renovated in 2015. Add six years to that date and you’re in 2021.
We’ve been covering Virgin Hotels Las Vegas (Virgin) since the project was first announced in 2018. The property was supposed to open in 2020 but delays have pushed it back. Construction at Virgin has been moving forward through the coronavirus pandemic. The company says it will open in Spring 2021. Virgin hasn’t revealed a specific opening date just yet but it appears as though Virgin is targeting April.
One of the biggest casino-resort deals of all time in the US was recently announced. Las Vegas Sands Corp. announced that it has entered into definitive agreements to sell its Las Vegas real property and operations. The deal includes The Venetian, The Palazzo, and the Sands Expo and Convention Center. Together, these entities make up “The Venetian.” The real estate and operations of the property added up to an aggregate purchase price of approximately $6.25 billion.
