We’ve discussed how Las Vegas residencies have changed over time so we won’t get into it again. The new short term residencies seem to be as popular, if not more popular, than their long-term predecessors.
One of the reasons for the popularity is the short-term nature of the events. Since the shows are limited, they have to be renewed often. This creates more demand for the shows since there’s no guarantee that the performers will always be around.
This strategy also works perfectly for today’s 24-hour news cycle. Each limited engagement comes with multiple news briefs. First, there’s the announcement about the limited engagement. Second, there’s an announcement that tickets are available. Third, there’s opening night and show reviews. Repeat as desired.
We try to stay ahead of the curve and focus on the announcements on this blog. The information in the announcements is usually helpful to plan a trip around an event. More and more of my friends are planning trips to Las Vegas around residencies, festivals, and sporting events.
While Las Vegas is always great, it’s a bonus to see a performer or event that you know you’ll like while visiting Sin City. These events are a great “excuse” to book a trip to Las Vegas.
Here are three popular limited engagements returning to Las Vegas in 2020.

Christina Aguilera

Christina Aguilera: The Xperience is returning to Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood for 10 more shows in late 2019 and 2020. The new show dates are:

 Dec. 2019: 27, 28, 30, 31
 Feb. 2020: 26, 28, 29
 March 2020: 4, 5, 6
Christina Aguilera: The Xperience is a unique show that can’t be seen anywhere else. The show was designed exclusively for Zappos Theater. If she performs elsewhere, it will be a different show.
There’s no guarantee that Xtina will return for another blast of shows so fans might want to make sure they get to one of these shows.

Billy Idol

Billy Idol returns to his newest home in Las Vegas next year for a brief run of shows. Billy Idol: Las Vegas 2020 will be back at the Brendon Theater at Palms with a handful of shows in March of next year:

 Friday, March 6, 2020
 Saturday, March 7, 2020
 Wednesday, March 11, 2020
 Friday, March 13, 2020
 Saturday, March 14, 2020
Idol and his band perform all the hits like “Rebel Yell,” “White Wedding,” and “Dancing With Myself” that longtime fans want to hear. Billy Idol has been performing a limited engagement for a few years. While he could return, ya never know.

Lionel Richie

Lionel Richie returns to Wynn Las Vegas for another round of shows in 2020. He will present his new show titled “Lionel Richie – Las Vegas” on the following dates in 2020:

 March 11
 March 13
 March 14
The former Planet Hollywood resident performer has opted for a low key environment for his Las Vegas performances at Wynn. Lionel Richie is 70 years old and still sounds fantastic. If you’re a fan of the Commodores and his solo music this show should meet everything you’re looking for.
