The elegant comfort of a piece of perfectly prepared fish is what you will get at Michael Mina’s American Fish. The fish here is so good, it should be illegal! Immerse yourself in this little gem of a restaurant and become enchanted by the whisper of a birch forest and falling leaves overhead; you might even believe that trout stream is just out of view! The open kitchen invites you to observe the four signature cooking methods used in the preparation: wood-grilling, salt-baking, ocean-water poaching and cast iron grilling. The wood grill is fired by California apricot wood and the ocean water for poaching is imported from Hawaii; all fish are truly American from the Great Lakes, the Pacific and Atlantic or from bountiful American rivers. The bar is the home of the best cocktail menu in Las Vegas and the extensive wine list deserves a special mention because of its rare vintners at affordable prices. The dishes are presented without any fussiness which spotlights the great fish and seafood and maximizes their natural potential.

What kind if joint runs out of half their entrees so soon? Date was hungry so what the hell – make the best if it. Got stuck with dry, boiled fish! If it weren’t for good service, I would have walked out. It’ll be my first and last that’s a promise. Minna, I was disappointed…..
I only gave this one a 3 stars because of cost, and I usually prefer a more casual dining experience. However, if you come during happy hour (5-7), you can find small dishes for $5, and even a few specialty cocktails for $7. The food is exceptional, and the service we had was pretty good as well. Yellow tail sashimi was fresh and tasty. I also ordered the wild sturgeon baked in salt. I loved it, but I am a salt lover, it may be too much for others. SO if you feel like getting dressed up and spending some loot, certainly try this location. Or hit it up during the happy hour for a little sample of what this place has to offer. I’ll go back for a special occasion, but stick to the casual dining experience generally instead.
