A new shopping, dining and entertainment attraction will open in early 2014 in Las Vegas known as The Linq.  At its forefront will be a very eye-catching main attraction. The new complex will feature the gigantic High Roller observation wheel as its centerpiece. The outer shell of the huge Ferris wheel is already visible in the Las Vegas skyline from as far away as the airport. This adds more excitement to the anticipated High Roller wheel’s opening.

A Panoramic View from the Top

From the top of the High Roller wheel, riders will have an amazing panoramic view of the iconic Las Vegas skyline and the surrounding areas. Compartments will hold 40 people each, and there will be 28 compartments. Reaching a height of 55 stories, over 1,000 riders on the wheel will be able to see over the famous Bellagio Hotel and Casino. When the more than 1,500 lights are installed on the High Roller, it will be visible for miles away from the Las Vegas strip.

Constructed at an estimated cost of over $550 million, Caesar’s Entertainment hopes that the new attraction will attract people of all ages, but especially younger people.  This new addition is expected to help boost the economy of the city. Tickets will sell for $30 each, giving riders a 30 minute beautiful and exciting panoramic experience viewing the city of Las Vegas in the comfort and stability of fixed cars. Large screens playing informational videos will add to the experience.

It Might Not Be the Tallest Wheel for Long

The High Roller Observation wheel will stand an astounding 500 feet tall, and for a short time it will be the world’s tallest Ferris wheel. A new wheel is expected to be built soon on Staten Island in New York which will stand 625 feet high. The new Staten Island Ferris wheel will be taller than the London Eye, the Singapore Flyer, China’s famous Star of Nanchang and the new Las Vegas High Roller Observation Wheel.

Las Vegas’ High Roller wheel will be taller than many of the city’s hotels. It will also be a bit shorter than the famous Stratosphere, which stands over 1,000 feet tall. The Stratosphere is located on the north end of the iconic Las Vegas strip.

Other Exciting Features of the High Roller

Another great feature of the towering High Roller observation wheel is that every one of the 28 cabins will have over 300 square feet of glass, allowing spectacular views from every angle imaginable of the beautiful city and the Las Vegas valley.  The cabins will also be available to rent for parties and weddings. The High Roller observation wheel is expected to be a popular venue for weddings, which will be performed in the air, with the skyline adding a dramatically beautiful and romantic backdrop.

High rolling riders of the new wheel will have to extinguish their cigarettes to ride, and there won’t be gambling on the observation wheel. Passengers will be able to hold a drink of their choice as they take in the beautiful scenery, however.

A New Shopping, Entertainment and Dining Venue Called the Linq

Expected to open soon along with the High Roller Observation Wheel is the entertainment, dining and shopping area known as the Linq. The center will be situated between The Quad Hotel and the Flamingo and will feature already confirmed tenants like Flour & Barley, a restaurant specializing in brick oven pizza, Chayo Mexican kitchen, Yard House restaurant and Ghiradelli Ice Cream and Chocolate shop. Once visitors have eaten, they can check out fun places like the Polaroid FotoBar.

Bowling will be available along with entertainment at Brooklyn Bowl. Visitors can also enjoy dessert at Sprinkles Cupcakes and fine wine along with California cuisine from The Stomping Grape. Great food and drinks can be found at the Tilted Kilt Pub and Eatery.

Shopping attractions include a Brazilian sunglass boutique called Chillibeans, Coorin Brothers hat makers and 12 A.M. Run, a high-end athletic shoe store. To get ready for an upcoming night out, visitors can have their hair done and be pampered at the Vanity Style Lounge. After all, it is Las Vegas, where everyone wants to look great for their exciting night out on the town.

High Roller Observation Wheel Expected To Become a Vegas Icon

Like the infamous Welcome to Las Vegas sign, the world-renowned Fremont Street Experience, uniquely themed hotels on the Las Vegas strip and the free Las Vegas strip evening shows like the Fountains of Bellagio, the Volcano at the Mirage Hotel and the pirate themed show at Treasure Island, the High Roller is expected to become an icon of Las Vegas. The gigantic wheel is noticeable from almost anywhere in the city. In a city like Las Vegas where everything is bigger, better, shinier and more attention grabbing, that is really a feat.

It is hoped that the newly constructed High Roller Observation Wheel will help to keep Las Vegas near the top of any list of fun and attractive tourist destinations. It certainly adds an entirely new look to the already brilliant skyline of Las Vegas. It brings the aura of a carnival and a playful atmosphere to a city that never seems to sleep. For those who do wish to get some sleep, there are also about 115 hotels to choose from in Las Vegas, many with outstanding, very comfortable accommodations and a plentiful selection of amenities.
