Las Vegas is host to unique events throughout the year. Sin City is home to everything from the massive Consumer Electronics Show to domino tournaments. Music festivals are equally diverse with concerts that include today’s pop music to classic and modern blues bands.
The Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekend, which began in 1998, is an annual 4-day music festival and car show that takes place every Easter weekend annually. Rockabilly Weekend has grown to be the largest event of its type in the world. It features bands and fans from all over the globe who come to experience Rockabilly & Original 50s Music.
During the weekend there’s a huge Classic Car Show, Burlesque Competition, Vintage Fashion Show, Dance Lessons and Competition, Tiki Pool Parties & swimsuit contests held daily, Burlesque Bingo, Pin-Up Beauty Academy, Pin-Up Contest, over 120 Vendors, a Bowling event, Sailor Jerry Tattoo Lounge hosted by Stedfast Tattoo Parlor, Weddings at Car Show and more.
While this might seem like a niche event it attracts guest from all over the world. Rockabilly Weekend has grown from the first year’s 1,200 people in attendance to an attendance of 20,000. Events and nearby hotels often sell out in advance. In fact, organizers say “The VLV (Viva Las Vegas) event has sold out in advance for the last few years, so attendees are encouraged to purchase tickets early.”
The host hotel, The Orleans, is already booked to capacity for the weekend! Organizers will set up deals with other nearby casino-hotels. You can find a list of nearby hotel partners here. Caesars Entertainment and Total Rewards loyalists will note that Rio isn’t on this list. This could be a good time to check for discounts or complimentary rooms
Events for Rockabilly Weekend will take place in 6 different music venues within The Orleans Hotel and Casino. There will be additional areas on site for vendors and more. Rockabilly Weekend isn’t a fly by night operation.
Stray Cats Performing At Rockabilly Weekend
Rockabilly Weekend features 100+ bands and 20+ rockabilly DJs performing nightly between the hours of 1 pm and 7 am. The performers include Original 50s Stars of Rockabilly, legends of Rock ‘n Roll and Doo Wop, and current rockabilly bands from all over the world. The Stray Cats have announced that they will be reforming and playing at this year’s event. The band lineup isn’t entirely scheduled but you can find the full list of performers here.
Car Show and Vendor Information
The Viva Las Vegas Car Show takes place on Saturday of the event. The show will feature 800 –1,000 vintage cars which must be period correct and pre 1963. Bands will be performing during the Car Show (from 10:30 am – 7: 00 pm).
Vendors are open daily, offering anything related to the scene: Vintage and reproduction clothing, event merchandise, records, CD’s, car accessories, bags, hair pomade, shoes, hats, posters, stickers, and more.
