Hotel brands from all over the world have been partnering their loyalty and reward programs with Las Vegas casino more often every year. There was a time where a casino loyalty/players club was the only way to receive a discounted or complimentary room. The increase in hotel loyalty partnerships is another way for visitors to get complimentary or discounted hotel rooms at your favorite Las Vegas casino-resort.

Visiting Sin City is sometimes like being in another world and not real life. Remember, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas! The ability to use rewards from hotel companies with properties around the world is a way to use work and “real life” travel to make your visits to Las Vegas a little less expensive. In a previous life, my work travel certainly helped increase my Vegas travel.

Just about every Vegas Strip casino has a hotel partner with properties all over the country (and world). The latest Las Vegas casino to become part of a major hotel loyalty brand is Downtown Grand in downtown Las Vegas. Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino is now part of Preferred Hotels & Resort.

Downtown Grand And Preferred

Preferred Hotels & Resorts is the world’s largest independent hotel brand. It represents more than 750 distinctive hotels, resorts, residences, and unique hotel groups across 85 countries. Downtown Grand is just the latest Las Vegas casino to become a Preferred hotel. Wynn and Encore, Green Valley Ranch, and Red Rock Casino are also Preferred hotels. Downtown Grand is the least expensive option of the four properties.

“We are thrilled to partner with such an elite hotel brand and collection,” said John Culetsu, VP and Managing Director of Downtown Grand. “Preferred Hotels & Resorts has a premier portfolio and will offer our guests an elevated experience plus authentic connectivity to the market. With our new, 495-room tower set to open next year the timing for this partnership couldn’t be better.”

All guests of Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino are now eligible to enroll in the I Prefer hotel rewards program. This rewards program extends points redeemable for cash-value Reward Certificates, elite status, and special benefits such as complimentary internet to members upon every stay at more than 700 participating Preferred Hotels & Resorts locations.

Best Hotel Rewards Programs

There are so many hotel rewards programs that it can become confusing. WalletHub recently released its list of best hotel rewards programs for 2020. Every traveler has different demands, so take the rankings as more of a guide than an absolute best. Here are the Top 5 hotel loyalty programs according to WalletHub.

  1. Wyndham Rewards
  2. Radisson Rewards
  3. Best Western Rewards
  4. Choice Privileges
  5. Marriott Bonvoy

Wyndham isn’t the biggest hotel company in the world so the number one ranking might come as a surprise. WalletHub’s CEO Odysseas Papadimitriou discussed that saying, “Many people will be surprised to learn that Wyndham, Radisson and Best Western top WalletHub’s list of the best hotel rewards programs for 2020, assuming bigger names such as Hilton and Marriott would lead the way. But smaller players in the travel space often provide more incentives because they have to do so in order to compete with bigger names. And that underscores the value in shopping around.” Papadimitriou agrees with something we said earlier, “The best hotel rewards programs aren’t the same for everybody, though, which is why we created a calculator to help people customize our rankings based on their own annual budget.”

Hotel Rewards Programs And Vegas Strip Casinos

WalletHub’s number one hotel rewards program, Wyndham Rewards, is a partner with Caesars in Las Vegas and around the country. Here’s a look at some of the hotel partners of casinos on the Vegas Strip.

  • Caesars – Wyndham Rewards
  • Casino Royale – Best Western
  • Cosmopolitan – Mariott (Bonvoy)
  • MGM Resorts – Hyatt
  • The Venetian/The Palazzo – IHG
  • Tropicana – Hilton
  • Treasure Island – Radisson
  • Wynn/Encore – Preferred

The names are programs may seem even more confusing when you look at which hotels around the world are connected to programs that might be connected with Las Vegas. Hospitalitynet has a good breakdown of which hotels belong to different loyalty programs.

Did you know that staying at Holiday Inn hotels could lead you to complimentary rooms at The Venetian? Both are IHG properties. I learned that today from old pal @baccarat_guy on twitter and the link above. Ya learn something new every day!

The bottom line here is that casino loyalty programs aren’t the only way to discounted and complimentary rooms in Las Vegas. Keep your options open there are so many rewards programs for travelers.
