I recently stayed a couple of nights at the Cosmopolitan. It didn’t hit me that this will be sort of a 10-year anniversary for the Vegas Strip casino-resort. Well, this visit happened slightly after the actual anniversary on December 15 but I’ll still count it.
The Cosmopolitan has changed a lot over the years but still maintains its position among the top of the luxury casino market in Las Vegas. Personally, it’s my favorite casino on the Vegas Strip. I enjoy my time at the Cosmopolitan whether I’m staying in a beautiful room or just visiting to play video poker at Chandelier Bar.
I’ve been smitten since we first met. I’m old enough to remember when the Clique Lounge was called Book and Stage. This amazing lounge had a stage for national touring bands along with a sports betting window. Get it – sports BOOK and band STAGE. Witty!
At the time, the sportsbook was on the second floor where the Block 16 food hall now operates. The sportsbook (and Starbucks) now occupy space on the main casino floor that used to be where slot machines went to get dusty before going away.
Before visitation dropped in Las Vegas because of the coronavirus, the Cosmopolitan would have among the highest room rates in Las Vegas. There was a quarterly battle between Wynn (and Encore), The Venetian (and The Palazzo) and Cosmopolitan for the highest room prices in Las Vegas.
Celebrating 10 Years
The Cosmopolitan is welcoming guests to safely celebrate 10 years of business with a variety of offers available throughout the year. The Cosmopolitan will have exclusive package deals, unique dining experiences, and social media contests. There will also be an effort to reward the local community and recognize 2020 heroes with giveaways.
“The Cosmopolitan opened its doors in a time where the world questioned how Las Vegas would bounce back from an economic downturn,” said William McBeath, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. “Now, 10 years later, The Cosmopolitan has accomplished what many thought to be impossible, and that is in credit to the longstanding loyalty and devotion of our employees and guests. It’s an honor to be woven into the legacy of this strong and resilient community. And while Las Vegas finds itself in yet another hardship, together, we will continue to defy the odds.”
A decade after opening, The Cosmopolitan has welcomed millions of guests from around the world. The property is still committed to its original core building blocks: community, art, high design, exceptional service, and an original ethos, to provide stories worth telling and a feeling worth returning to.
After spending three days and two nights at the Cosmopolitan, I can vouch that the property is still unique. Everything from the variety of new slot machines to atmospheric music in different parts of the casino is still special.
10 Year Anniversary Programming, Packages & Giveaways
To celebrate its 10-year anniversary, The Cosmopolitan has crafted a collection of offers, experiences, and giveaways. We’ll highlight some today but you can stay up to date here.
Anniversary Packages: The anniversary packages are built into three distinct tiers. Some packages will feature offers never before available for public booking until now. The packages include accommodations at access to the exclusive Boulevard Penthouses, butler service, private jet transports, chef-tasting dinners, custom shopping experiences, and more. Packages are now available for booking through Dec. 15, 2021, and range in price from $1,600 to $15,000 for the Wrong Has More Fun package. The penultimate deal is the $250,000 Access Excess package
Recognizing 2020 Heroes: The Cosmopolitan is grateful to local front-line workers, healthcare personnel and individual heroes. These are the people that have provided Sin City with a shining example of what it means to be Vegas Strong. In recognition and appreciation of these locals, The Cosmopolitan is asking the Las Vegas community to assist them in identifying individuals who have selflessly served in 2020. Those selected will receive gifts such as a complimentary suite or penthouse experiences.
Anniversary Food & Beverage Offerings
There will be food and beverage deals throughout the year. The Cosmopolitan’s award-winning Restaurant and Bar Collection will offer commemorative dishes and specialty prix-fixe menus from Jan. 15 through the end of the year. A portion of proceeds from each 10-Year dish and menu will benefit the Las Vegas Rescue Mission.
Restaurants and bars offering specialty menus include The Barbershop, Beauty & Essex, Blue Ribbon, Clique Bar & Lounge, The Chandelier, China Poblano, Holsteins, Jaleo, Momofuku, Scarpetta, and Zuma.
