Ridesharing companies like Uber and Lyft are rapidly catching up to taxis as a way to get around Las Vegas. A record number of people took a ride from one of those companies leaving McCarran Airport on November 26. While it may be easier to stand in line for a taxi at McCarran Airport, more than 10,000 people decided that the saving these companies offer is noticeable enough to use a different way to get around town.

Lyft has been producing the Lyftie Awards every year since they started operation. These aren’t exactly “awards” but they do tell a story of where customers are taking rides to using their service. They share the information for the country and a limited number of cities.

Where are people in Las Vegas taking Lyft? Let’s take a look:

Most Visited Restaurant: In-N-Out Burger
On the surface, this may sound controversial. Who’s taking a car service to a fast food restaurant? A lot of people have been using taxis to get to In-N-Out Burger for years. This was the most visited restaurant in Las Vegas last year too.

However, In-N-Out Burger opened at The Linq on the Vegas Strip so it’s somewhat surprising to see it remain on top here. Visitors to Las Vegas could just walk to grab a delicious Double Double and save on the ride fare. Even though the prices of the In-N-Out Burger on the Vegas Strip are a little higher than the other locations the price of a Lyft to the nearest restaurants probably negates any savings.

It’s probably more convenient to hop in a car and take a ride to the In-N-Out Burger Drive Thru on Sahara (north) or Tropicana (south) locations if you’re staying on either end of the Vegas Strip. I’m curious to see if this remains on the list next year as more people visit the location on the Vegas Strip.

Most Visited Bar: Topgolf
This attraction technically isn’t only a bar. It’s also not just a golf driving range. You can read more here. There are several bars at Topgolf if you just want to go drink at an indoor/outdoor bar in a sporty environment.

Even though Topgolf is technically on MGM Grand property, it’s about a 15-minute walk from the casino. This can easily be a rideshare for anyone – even if they’re staying at MGM Grand. Topgolf is on top of this list because there are simply not a lot of bars on the Vegas Strip that people are taking a car service to. This is one of the best sports bars on the Vegas Strip, regardless if you play the game.

Most Visited Event Venue: Fremont Street Experience
According to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, the vast majority of visitors to Las Vegas stay on the Vegas Strip. Similarly, more than half of those visitors (53% to be exact) say that they visit downtown Las Vegas when in town. Fremont Street Experience is almost always the desired location to visit downtown. Sometimes you don’t need a detailed explanation.

Trending Destination: Reef Dispensaries
You may have heard that marijuana is now legal in Las Vegas. There’s nowhere to buy it on the Vegas Strip and most dispensaries aren’t located within walking distance from casinos. Lyft, Uber, and taxis are the easiest way to get to the pot shops. This is new and should continue to grow. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see this as a trend when the 2018 Lyfties are released.
